The fertile window refers to the period of time during a woman's menstrual cycle when she is most likely to conceive. It is around the time of ovulation, when the egg is released from the ovary and is available for fertilization by sperm. While the egg can survive for approximately 12-24 hours after ovulation, it's important to note that sperm can survive inside the female reproductive tract for up to five days, so having intercourse in the days leading up to ovulation can also increase the chances of conception. Therefore, the fertile window can be considered to be a six-day period, which includes the five days leading up to ovulation and the day of ovulation itself.

The exact timing of the fertile window can vary depending on the length of a woman's menstrual cycle. It's important to track your menstrual cycle and leverage ovulation tests to understand your fertile window. While there are various methods to track ovulation, such as using ovulation predictor kits, tracking basal body temperature, or monitoring changes in cervical mucus, Labour the App recommends ovulation test kits. By timing intercourse or insemination to coincide with the fertile window, couples can increase their chances of conception. You are most likely to get pregnant at your ovulation peak and we recommend having sex on the day(s) of your peak test for the best outcome.
