HOW LONG IT CAN TAKE TO GET PREGNANT

Most couples have a 20-25% chance of getting pregnant during each monthly cycle.

The largest factor in getting pregnant is health - of both partners in a heterosexual relationship, and of the birthing partner in a lesbian couple.

Age can be a factor but it is not the only factor in getting pregnant.

According to the American Pregnancy Association:

  • About 30% of couples conceive within the first month of trying.

  • About 60% conceive within three months.

  • About 80% conceive within six months.

  • About 90% conceive within a year.

  • For couples actively trying to conceive, if they have not achieved pregnancy within a year, it's generally recommended to seek medical advice.

    • Note: For women aged 35 or older, it is generally recommended to initiate fertility evaluation after 6 months of trying to conceive. For women aged 40 or older, fertility evaluation may be considered after less than 6 months.
