Vaginal Birth

Stages of Labor:

  • Early Labor: Contractions begin, and the cervix gradually opens.

  • Active Labor: Intensified contractions as the cervix continues to dilate.

  • Transition: The final stage of labor, leading to full dilation.

  • Pushing: The urge to push as the baby moves through the birth canal.

  • Delivery of Placenta: After birth, the placenta is delivered.

Labor Signs:

  • Contractions: Regular contractions are a sign that labor has begun.

  • Water Breaking: Rupture of the amniotic sac may occur, leading to a flow of amniotic fluid.

Labor Positions:

  • Upright Positions: Standing, walking, or swaying can ease labor pain and aid the descent of the baby.

  • Squatting or Kneeling: These positions can open the pelvic outlet, facilitating the birthing process.
